I think you can feel the extra weight if you do a slalom type of maneuver, going back and forth quickly. And in hybrid mode, the suspension is definitely softer since it has air (compared to a fixed suspension setup or M adaptive). Those two things would make a difference if you drove both one right after the other. Now....in sport mode, with firmer suspension, the 45e would be much closer in the handling department. In my driving, which is NOT aggressive, on ramps at 25mph above the posted speed limit, there is no body lean at all. And evasive maneuvering is spot on. I do not expect it to handle like a sports sedan, but I do pay attention to how it drives...isn't that why we ALL buy/lease one of these? So for me, where most of the time I want quiet and luxury, handling above what it already does is not needed. If you really want aggressive driving dynamics in an X5....M50i or M is where you need to go.
