I then found
these, made in USA. They are not designed or made for the BMW, but it seems that if we could figure out what length we need and then find a compatible domestic truck that is about the same, it could work. I found BMW adapters through
another vendor (about $200) to make them automatically deploy when the door opens.
Whether or not all of that will really work could prove to be an expensive experiment.
