But to better explain my question, in my e92 i view the shift knob as fully mechanical from Drive all the way to park, as it must be physicaly clicked down to the gear. In our f30, which is where that shift knob appears to replicate or be from, the shift mechanism is electric where the knob simply goes up and down to the desired gear, with park being the thumb press.
