I get the romanticism and nostalgia of the old ads, but beyond owning a Bimmer of this vintage for the Sunday morning drive, I don't think I would want to daily drive a car this old which admittedly is crude in many levels and not necessarily paragons of safety by modern standards.

Fun weekend/car show/project cars no doubt.
My first BMW, for 5-years, was a 1976 E12 528. Loved it at the time, but wouldn't want to go back there, compared to current models.

Don't even want to go back to the E39 days, even though the models were perhaps the pinnacle of quality and build.

We have classic cars in my family. To be absolutely frank, to me they are not much more than mixed memories.
