you're gonna see this a lot in the newer bmws with the thin taillights. Thin taillights and tall rear end on a car like this they need a lot of horizontal lines so it doesn't look as tall and bulky. I think they actually did it pretty well here, especially compared to the x4. The lines framing the taillights on the x6 help it out a lot.
