Didn't mind the x-ice Michelins, but then I had them on my extremely un-sporty X1 which I never drove aggressively. Agree that they would not be great on a performance-oriented vehicle.
Thanks for your feedback. I did some research around and found this quote from a member:

"After using a performance winter tire the "regular" winter feels very sloppy and mushy. You lose a ton of feeling. It's honestly night and day.. The only people saying they feel the same are those that haven't tried both. The performance winter tires feel exactly like the summers, whereas the regular winters are like having pillows for tires."

I'm undecided right now between the Pilot Alpin and the Pirelli Scorpian.
