Just make sure you are ok with the sound of 4-cylinder in the S2000. With the top down it is a fun car to drive, and like you said, wife-approved.

If you are willing to put up with the S54 maintenance requirements i would look for an M-coupe. Its sharper, smaller, and doesn't have that nasty rasp when comparing to the E46M.
