On my G05 I can lift the wiper blades sufficiently to clean the windshield without contacting the hood. It's not much, perhaps an inch away from the windshield, but enough.

I can do the same on my G05.
In regards to the OP, not many car wash crews will take conscious care when quickly lifting up wipers to dry windshields - leading to minor scrapes.
