There's an SIB on this issue. They did the SIB on my 2020 X7 and it helped slightly but didn't solve the problem. Plus, the door was misaligned and not flush with the body of the vehicle.
See my latest post on this issue below. The SIB is listed in the first post. Unfortunately even after replacing the whole unit the door still doesn't fit flush. I wouldn't even bother with the SIB. I would ask them to replace the Fuel Door Pot because the SIB isn't a permanent fix. At least it wasn't for me.
