According to JDPower 2018 VDS, Porsche ranked the second (higher than BMW). It is the same situation in 2017,2016, (Porsche ranking higher than BMW).
Looking at another study, Initial Quality Study from JD power. Posche is ranking the first in 2015, 2016, 3rd in 2017 , 4th in 2018, all ahead BMW. I say Porsche is a more reliable brand for a reason.
A brand which generally has less issues on their new cars is having problems on their new models cars, so it is common and forgivable for BMW.
