In any event, there wont be a 40d in the UK for some time if at all. It is more likely that they will bring the 25d and the 30i into the lineup

I agree. It's gonna take awhile for 40d to be available. But at least we have a "confirmation" of the rumor, and it sits between 30d and M50d in terms of pricing.
Looks like multiple diesel variants will coexist for some time
