I had this problem a month ago. In my case, it was that the car stopped communicating with the connected drive servers, it wasn’t the app. I know, because my wife’s car is also in the app and it was working fine.

I worked with the dealer, they did the following:
Updated my firmware on the X6
Deleted my profile
Reset the iDrive (hold power button for like 30 seconds with engine running)
Reloaded my profile

The combination of those started everything back up and it’s been flawless for the last month or so.
