I feel your pain! I think the lowest MPG you'll see is 24-25 MPG round town and that's if you put your foot down and don't use stop/start or EcoPro. My 40d would do 32MPG in the same conditions. I think 25MPG could easily be improved on if you were prepared to drive more economically than I do
If you can swallow the extra costs associated with the MPG then jump on the 40i. You won't regret it
