LM-001 is an older tire while Alpin 5 is a new tire that excels in all the recent comparison tests. It would be a fair comparison if the Blizzaks were LM-005. I personally went with Nokian Hakka R3 because they had a special deal at the time making it the best value. Plus for snow and ice, it is hard to beat the Hakkas and the low rolling resistance also helps with the electric range. However, for dry and wet conditions Alpin 5 is superior without losing much on snow and ice performance. If money was not a factor, Alpin 5 would have been my pick for the best all around winter performance...
