It is one thing to like nice things and want a nice expensive engagement ring especially given she will wear it for the rest of her life and it's meaning.
I'm sure most of us here could sympathise with that given what we are willing to spend on cars we change every few years.
However to demand a certain price range is something entirely different. Especially when that price tag 20k.
Saying I don't want a ring for less than 1k is understandable, 20k is just snobby.
I'd be saying no and if she chooses to leave you over it, let her.
