Hi hkleyman, I have a M50D with the March update and I think there's something similar happening to mine with the exhaust flaps but worse. Mine does a bad rattling noise at low speed and the service guys down were able to stop it by unplugging the flap (but don't know if it's open or closed).
I managed to compare with another M50D with the November software and it doesn't make the rattling noise at all: and it feels the engine is a lot more bass/less high pitch than mine which is not great either.
Do the guys at your dealer have anyone else report your issue? do you think BMW can reverse the software update? (the guys down here don't think it's possible...) thanks!
