I would imagine all the levels of leather are durable enough for a car seat. Especially if you put down a seat protector.

Remember these seats are designed for a human to routinely go in and out. Surely the cyclical effect of that has to be more challenging than the static load of a car seat that only gets reinstalled infrequently.

Don't confuse soft and supple of the merino to mean delicate.
