Because of that I said Vernasca is perfect for you. It's not just having the seat on the leather (which will still leave deep lines in Merino, and hardly anything in Vernasca, think of it as plastic leather), the possibility for scratching and damaging leather is when you slide/put the seat in the car, and remove it. You'll have issues with Merino if you do it often enough, in a hurry and not careful enough, period!

You can still crease Vernasca, it's durable but no more so than Merino. BMW Merino and nappa are pretty durable - my 60lb English Bulldog sits in front passenger seat without seat any covering the nappa and it's survived 3 year w/o wear and tear.
