I've always used the cheap stuff and never had issues. Sometimes I get hazy vision as soon as I put them in for a few minutes as they adjust and settle properly in my eyes, but after that it's all good.
Gotta ask it - are you sure you haven't got them in the wrong eyes? I've done that before.
