Ford had something with their system too... I would bet most do. It has to do with the amount of metal in a color or what is actually in the paint. Sensors that don't use vision can pick things up based on magnetic field or interference and vision can do to certain colors. I remember I was working on a robotic cell where the tray part sensor (capacitive) would pick up on silver but not gray. We found that the amount of metal in the paint caused it to flag the sensor. That sensor was looking for an empty spot not a part present. Just my thoughts...
