If you never do longer road trips, never/rarely have extended power outages, have a good charging network in your city/community, enjoy high tech, and have a tesla service center nearby, the X (much higher cost to x5) or Y (slightly lower cost) is probably the way to go. If 2 or more of the above don't hold, a PHEV "could" be a better fit.
Alas, Fit, Finish and comfort on a BMW X5 will be better than ANY Tesla IMO.
