Way early initial comments after only 30 miles of suburban and rush hour traffic:
1. Ride in Comfort mode is sublime. Perhaps it's the 20" wheels and comfortable sidewalls.
2. For better or worse, exhaust is barely noticeable.
3. First X5/BMW, so can't compare to earlier models. Size wise, feels as large as our Ford Explorer, but drives dramatically different. Takes up a lot of lane width. This is a big vehicle, but it drives like a dream.
4. Given comments 1 and 3 especially, having a hard time rationalizing a high-performance variant, i.e. a real M-car version (X5M). Just doesn't compute for me, coming from an AMG background.

If the standard interior leather choices were not so conservative (Boring) , I would have probably talked myself into a 40i.
I would want a nice chestnut or Porsche blue interior .
Wheel choices are meh. Ok .
