No need for a toe pick, just me crossing the blue line with my head down, and a 250lb defenseman with a strong desire to take the puck from me!
Most of the power skating techniques I learned were from a figure skating coach. I dated a girl briefly in college, and while I could skate circles around her in hockey skates (she was so not accustomed to the rocker!
), when she put on her figure skates, all I could see was her ass...

which wasn't all bad, as figure skaters have GREAT asses!

Never much saw the point of no-check hockey! As a defenseman, my background as a middle linebacker was a great asset!
