I'm still debating on this. I went to the German dealer and they said 5w-30. I look under the hook and the sticker says 0w-30 (or 0w-20, can't remember). The iDrive Manual states both 0w-30 and 0w-20 but also says the 20 is for specific engines. It also list some 5w-XX in there so I'm all over the place with which. I think I'm going to get what the sticker says under the hook and be done with it (it's getting into winter so 0w might not be the best, still researching).
