This is the only reason I'm not considering the V8. Our SUV is our road trip car and I'm too spoilt by our current SUVs range with a 26 gallon tank and average close to 30 mpg on the highway.

Exactly my point and reason why i started this thread.
best I've gotten on a tank is 398 miles and I still had 1.5 gallons left in the tank. average MPG for that tank was ~19mpg so you can go further. I can get 22-26mpg highway at 80-85mph sometimes so that's 482-570miles of range peak
