I just dropped off my car at the dealership to upgrade iDrive to the latest version whatever that may be. I really don't think anyone in the USA with iDrive before v.07 will be able to get the OTA update, but please post if I am wrong about that. It is probably different in other regions. OTA updates are a relatively new thing in the USA butI believe they have been happening in Europe going back to the 2019 model year. I don't know why BMW was unable to roll it out sooner in the USA.
