Once the full software is in the vehicle, the menu on mine said to ensure the vehicle is parked outside where it is accessible, and do not exit and lock the vehicle until the start timer has expired. If I remember, there was a selection to tell it to start now. The actual update process from that point takes some time, and the vehicle is not driveable. The suggestion to have it outside is if there's an issue, to likely have a cellular connection, and easy access, should there be a glitch and someone needs to look at the vehicle rather than being trapped inside a garage where you might not even be able to put it into neutral to tow it out.
