He died about 5 years ago. I chose to make a deal and give him a one time payment in lieu of lifetime payments so he didn’t have his hand in my pocket for the rest of his/my life. I feared that if my situation got better or his worse he would come back to renegotiate payments. Also so I was done with him. He lived for 7 or so years after the settlement. My lawyer was against it but I was glad to cut the ties.
