In this month's (May 6th, 2010) issue of Auto Motor und Sport (AMS) they have a small story on the BMW's new hatch(four and two door) models. And Audi's new A3 to battle BMW.
AMS reports that the PSA (Peugeot Group) will supply some four cylinder engines for BMW. Just like the Mini, I believe. Engines of 1.2L to 2.0L displacement, 75 to 180 Hp/Ps. There will also be a E-car(electric) for this class.
What I found interesting
IS that AMS report that the
BMW 2.0L bi-turbo gas engine will have 300 Hp This BMW model will compete with the new Audi S3. BMW will continue to use RWD bc this gives them an exoctic edge in this segment.
The AMS article says that BMW 1er is out selling Audi's A3, and BMW wants to keep it that way. BMW will come out with a series of fuel efficent turbo fours. They say these engine will emit less than 100g/Km!! Very important since many EU countries now base the car tax this way. NOT on engine size, but in how much the engine pollutes.
They have a nice rendering of a LeMans Blue four door 120i, turbo four with dual exhausts.
