We have a Miele canister and also have a cordless Dyson (v8 I think) for quick uses. They are both good at what they do but are not really substitutes for each other IMO. Wouldn’t want to do a thorough full house vacuum with the Dyson but it works perfectly without needing the heavier, more cumbersome canister and cord for small areas, a spill or when we see some dog hair tumbleweeds. Costco has sales on the Dyson from time to time.

Before those we had various machines, including an older Electrolux. My dad used to sell those door to door and I remember going on some sales calls with him. At one time they were the best, but they changed owners long ago and are no longer the same machines relative to competition.
