This is my problem also. I don't like to use the brush at carelovers so I drip the suds on then use my sponge to rub it down. This all takes time and people get impatient.
I have investigated buying a slimline rainwater tank. Not expensive, and I think this will be the solution going forward. Nothing stoping you using grey water to wash your car at home is there ??? i.e water from a completed bath. Bath soap and hair shampoo should be mild enougth and not cause problems.
