I update from 07/2020.45 to 07/2020.54 today on 06 Nov in Canada.

Cool, so Canada is getting OTA updates to 07/2020.xx simultaneously with most of the rest of the world, unlike the prior one. Mine still wants me to update from current 11/2019.40 to 11/2019.70 for just the last couple of weeks, which I won't do.

Bit of a novice question..... Are these updates incremental? i.e. You need to do 11/2019.70 before you can then do 07/2020.54?
Or can you jump from 11/2019.40 straight to 07/2020.54?
Just wondered.

I don't believe we know for OTA updates (direct ISTA/dealer updates generally don't need to be sequential, although I think I recall reading about a couple of past platform exceptions to this over the years). For OTA, there hasn't been enough OTA updates for us to have reverse-engineered the philosophy and we'll all be driving Teslas before BMW ever communicates such philosophy publicly or reliably. It may also be complicated by being a hybrid: some major architecture-changing version may require some other minimal prior version for OTA update, but not others
I suppose we're about to find out, if only everyone were to carefully always post:
- how they got their update: OTA, dealer, self
- updated-from version
- updated-to version
- car build geography
- current location geography
