currently in the USA, using an iPhone as a digital key is done through the Connected app, which adds the digital key to the Wallet app. both the vehicle and iPhone have to be compatible.
adding the digital key to the Wallet is also done through the new MyBMW app and still requires a compatible vehicle and iPhone.
