They're covers (grill) for the ac vents found under the front seats. I guess there's a concern things could find there way in there. |

I have two kids... Honestly never considered it. On my ML these vents are off the ground a little, so it would be difficult for anything to roll into them. It's never been too much of an issue for me, but I keep my car spotless, even with the two kids back there.
