Do we know where the iDrive nav gets its real-time traffic information from? I guess it is a third party service but I wonder if the data is from crowdsourced data.

Think the source might vary by region but TomTom seem to be the strategic choice for map and traffic data. The routing engine is definitely not developed by TomTom though.
