Is esysx like the old esys with the German codes and connecting a laptop to the car?
Or did it go Bluetooth / app / dongle too?

Esysx works with esys to activate the token AND map the psdzdata codes into a readable format. BMW trimmed the codes to make them unreadable by consumers a few years back.
