Be polite, be professional....

I was lucky, I was involved in a couple of pursuits that resulted in fatalities and the ensuing investigations. I came very close on a number of occasions but never shot anyone. I'm glad for that but frankly I would also do what I had to to go home at the end of my shift. I have faith in your judgment.
Those close calls will wear on you for sure. At least you made it to the finish line. That's a feat unto itself.

I feel so bad for you guys with all this shit going on. How hard it must be to do your job, listen to your spidey sense but at the same time knowing the scrutiny that will follow. Just be safe. I imagine a lot of good guys will retire.

Kid also had GSR on his hand.
We had/have 704 retirements this year. Can you believe it?!? We were projecting 300-ish and were in downright shock that the reality was double the projection. Last year really hurt us.

So.....

.....Adam Toledo had a firearm and it was located near his body. Freeze frames of the BWC show it in his hand, but it didn't catch the toss. As Toledo began to raise up his hands, he simultaneously tossed the gun.....but the officer fired a single round. The officer didn't see the toss and the BWC didn't catch the toss. That's how quickly it occurred.

The community won't ask the real questions:
  • Where were his parents?
  • Why is a 13 year old out at 0200?
  • Where/how did he obtain the firearm?
  • What/who was he shooting at that prompted the 911 call and subsequent police response?
  • Why didn't he just comply rather than prompt a foot pursuit?

The media and the community will make this all about race (...which it isn't) while ignoring every component of the circumstances that led up to the police contact.
I haven't heard anything yet from our supervision regarding EOP (Emergency Operation Procedure) being activated ref any protest; however, with the Chauvin trial and now this mess.... Stay Safe Bro!! Like you said "Here we go!!
You stay safe too bro! It's madness. I can't do a repeat of 2020. I'll end up a bailiff in courts if this crap continues.

I watched the video. I agree is was a good shoot, but that doesn't matter to the media and the public. All they know is that a cop shot a kid. The fact that is was justifiable use of force doesn't matter to the media and public.
100% agreed.
