I'm saying your comparison is moot because (from what I'm making of your logic) you're trying to infer the price of a X5 M50i from the price difference between a 540 and a M550, the latter of which still has the old V8. Most people here are concerned with whether or not the newer and (significantly) higher output engine will carry an equally significant price premium. A better and more relevant comparison would be the percentage, not absolute, price difference between the European spec. 840i and the M850i.

I don't disagree however that the M50i won't carry a significant premium over the M Sport 50i xDrive since both will essentially occupy the same spots on the X5 hierarchy.
