It's just an add-on sale. I've never kept my cars longer than 5 years max and the paint and leather have never been in such a bad condition that I've ever thought "Gee - I shoulda got the protection pack!"
I had a mate who bought a new Toyota. They didn't even clean the car - they just sprayed the "paint protection" on. You could feel the dust and sand - now permanently bonded to the paintwork!
