Coming into my neighborhood, I have a right hand turn where you start to turn, look around the corner and make sure no one is coming down the hill and then you can go. When I wait for someone to finish coming down the hill, the engine will stop, you let off the brake to start to creep forward and the vehicle doesn't restart, you have to hit the gas for it to restart. First time it did it, I rolled back a couple of feet before I figured what was happening, luckily no one was behind me.
That shouldn't happen, hill start assist should hold the brakes as far as I know until the vehicle moves forward. I have a 50i so I still have the button, but I happen to have a MY21 40i loaner. I'll do some testing today on a hill with that exact right turn situation in my area.
