Make sure you use a good air pressure gauge. Those pencil- tip ones are lousy.
I use this one:

Thanks. I use a talking tire gauge, but it is a pencil type. So then that sensor based system must react to a 1/2 psi difference? Not sure if any gauge is that precise, also when you insert the gauge to check you deflate a bit of air if you're not dead quick. Does the above model have better precision ($66!), or facilitate the checking operation?

Just saw this vid
, it has a nice feature to deflate an over inflated tire, nice! But still confused about the hold valve feature? Def buying it, thanks for the tip. or maybe I'll go crazy and get the digital one
Yes, because of the angle of the chuck, the way it swivels and the long rubber hose, it is easier and more convenient to reach the tire valve to take a reading. You can also be quite quick during the attachment and thus lose minimal to no air.
These gauges are definitely more accurate than the pencil-type.
Finally, the hold valve allows you to remove the gauge from the tire valve, yet the reading does not go away / reset to zero. The reading is held on the gauge face.
