I texted my CA on Monday morning to ask if he could confirm what was stated by the OP, and this evening he just texted me back that he got confirmation from BMW Canada that there will indeed be a remote starter for the X5 (and X7) and that there will be a retrofit for already delivered vehicles.
They are supposed to get a bulletin by the end of this week with the details, like availability dates or software version, whether or not it will be for all models, or if it will be an option or in a package, etc.
I will keep you posted as I get the info.
