Originally the round bump stops that the red arrow points to in the photo below were adjusted. They turn counter clockwise to extend and clockwise to retract.
The horizontal bump stops that the blue arrow points to were adjusted after this most recent (3rd) visit and are much further out (towards the arrow) after I got it back. The photo is before they were adjusted. Now they extend out further.
I think they all just hold the upper lift gate in place because there is a lot of play in the latches.
