X6M Air Conditioning Question

Hello everyone.

I’m mostly on the X7 side of the house however, it’s a known fact the newer X7’s have absolutely anemic AC. They changed something and it just doesn’t cool. It’s a big issue that BMW just won’t fix. I’m going to swap out my XB7 for an X6M and wondered do any of you have these same cooling issues. We have a massive thread on the X7 forum. It’s bad. I live in a hot and humid climate and need the AC cold.

Thanks for any input.

This is probably a subjective thing and I can't speak for the LCIs but on my 2022 X5M, the AC works perfectly in my opinion.

On my LCI X5 (M60) AC has been great. Super cold. I am in Houston and we have been in the 90’s and crazy humidity.

Possible contrary opinion here, but I consider my 2024 X5M to have "adequate" A/C. It gets the job done, but only if you do all of the same tricks that are discussed on the X7 forum. I suspect it's the same hardware between X5 and X7, so the X5 has the advantage of a smaller cabin volume. Now, having said that, I only have complaints once the outside temp gets above 90-95 and the car has been sitting outside in a parking lot all day. Takes 10 minutes before I move from "tolerable since there's air blowing" to actually being comfortable and the blower starting to step back down from max.

Thank you for the insight. This is good info. This bothers me. I think I’m going to go and sit in one before I get this one. I’m in and out of cars a lot but my daily driver needs cold AC. It gets really hot here in Florida.

For an SUV that has been sitting outside in 90-95, you have to consider the thermal mass of everything that is inside the car. While the AC is blowing cold air, everything else in the car is heating that air back up. Even good ACs are not miracle workers.

The ac in my X5 does not work as well as the AC in our Expedition. I have to remote start it far longer to get cool than the expedition. Both black, both in Florida.

It's adequate, but I expected more from a "luxury" vehicle.

True, but my larger volume 3-row 2015 Audi Q7 did much much better with cabin cooling. And it was black on black, which my X5M is not.

Huh... I was thinking the AC is fine. In fact, here in Seattle it got up to almost 70 the other day. Wasn't a problem.

It's not as great as previous generations. Seems like the functionality of the AC in my F86 is much better than the one on my F95 LCI, but that's only me, in a country where it regularly hits 45-49 Celsius in the summer.
