Hey all. Was wondering if anyone is coming from a late model Cayenne, like a 21 or 22? Either a S or GTS.
Reason is, and can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am fatiguing of the ride quality in my f95. The roads here in CT are just too full of imperfections, manhole covers, and other elements that really make it tough around town. Humorously, my wife drove it for a few weeks as her car was in shop and she said something is broken in it (she has a real nice G05 M Sport on 22s). I am looking for options to potentially replace. -Maybe a M60i, but. Not sold on the interior and mild hybrid. Don’t prefer a m50i as that’s a N62. -The Cayenne GTS has a nice v8, air suspension, great brakes, and nice interior. Looks like a nice option. -The S has a v6, and also seems pretty solid with the right options. -A G wagon isn’t my style or taste. -Merc AMG could be an option I guess, but would have to try it out and they are kind of fugly IMO. Anyhow, just wondering and soliciting some input. (And I also am aware the GTS/S are not slotted up against the F95 in the model lineup.) Thanks.

X5 M50i has the latest version of the N63 engine. Nothing wrong with it. Take care of it and it will last a long time.

The Cayenne definitely rides softer with the air suspension. As you go larger with the wheel/tire the gap becomes smaller. It doesn’t quite have the same turn in response of the X5M bc of the air suspension. It just feels a lot less sporty unless you put it in sport plus, at which point it is quite close to the X5M in ride quality.
These observations come from driving several 2021-2024 Cayenne models (S through turbo, I have not tried the GT bc the coupe styling put me off). If ride quality is truly a motivating factor consider the RSQ8. I think it is significantly more comfortable than the Cayenne. Again you sacrifice the sporty feel. Have you considered different tires (?all seasons), smaller wheels, or perhaps a lower tire pressure on your X5M? Might make a difference (admittedly won’t get you to the comfort levels of an air suspension but could save you a fortune). X |

I am currently driviving RSQ8 and i am waiting for x6m.I test drove x5 m lci with pilot alpin 5 and the ride was same as my audi.I know tires help a lot,but what made a huge difference for my RSQ8 were the lightweight rims. When i put oem size 10lb lighter per rim,the difference was very big.The right on dynamic mode was as comfort before.I will do the same with the x6m and hope i will have the same effect.I dont what will be the difference on x5/x6m with summer tires, but stock rsq8 had a worse ride than x5m with winters.

Thanks The TU is likely fine. Just older n63 reputation marred by valve stem seals.

FYI, 2024 Cayenne S has a V8. Previous gen has a V6 in the S.

Don’t think the n63 has the cross bank exhaust manifold. All the videos I see suggest not. But yes, essentially same architecture with different cooling. I have read all the tech manuals out there.

Lmao. You may be right. New England is just rough on roads. I think I’m heading towards an air suspension sport SUV. I dont recall my f86 being this rough. It had rear air bags. The steel springs are probably perfect for good roads.

FWIW I haven’t seen one x5/6M, but plenty of Cayenne’s, including Turbos, and G Wagons.

I could only WISH to have streets like that -- come to Montreal,QC and you'll really see what bad roads are like.

Yes. Came from a cayenne GTS. X5m all the way. They still haven’t figured out how to code the tranny to shift. I’ve hade all generations of cayennes and have always said the transmission is the weakest link.

Prior to my 45e with RFT 20" I had a Macan, 19" wheels, air suspension with non-run flats. Macan's ride was great on all types of roads. I like my 45e alot but the BMW air suspension with RFT's is not as good as the Porsche's by a fair bit.
