Need advice on winter tire sets
I noticed that my 2021 bmw x5 m50i has two different tire sizes for the front and back.
275/35 R22 factory front tire 22’’ wheels 315/30 R22 factory rear tire 22’’ Would me buying 4 of the 275/35/ R22 tires for all 4 wheels be bad for the car? Or should I go with the proper sizes for both? There really is only one set of tires by Pirelli that fits the rear which brought up the question. I do not have much knowledge about tires. |

I’m in a similar predicament with my X6 M60. Staggered setup on 22s, called the dealer for clarity who recommended staggered 21s. Does it really need to be staggered or is a square setup okay for the car?

That being said, I don't know if there are any studies or tests that reveal how big is the difference between a staggered vs square setup. |

I ordered the 22" set from the factory but I'd prefer going for a square setup for winter tires as thats whats I've done before. Seems like it'll be around the same price anyways. |

MSW Type 51 wheels with Vredestein winter tires, TPMS, Roadforced and balanced from TireRack. Mine came with Stock 747 wheels wrapped in P Zeros. |

I order the winter set style 748M with 20", look nice and a lot cheaper tires than the 22" for my summer setup. For 22" winter staggered there aren't so many tires availables so they get really expensive.

Winters tend to be square, although my Cayenne Turbo is not.
748m winter set from BMW is square 275 on 20s. (I have a set for sale in classifieds if close to CT). 808m winter set from BMW is square 295 on 21s. Rear rim is .5 wider. See pic of them on our G05. Narrower tires are better in snow. I also believe you want taller aspect ratio for bumps, frost heaving and potholes. My Cayenne has 275/305 on 20s. Looks like ready for Dakar as normally on 22s.
