Alpha One amp installation question
I am in the middle of installing my new Alpha One amp in my 2019 G-05 X5 with HK system.
Not the easiest thing to do so far. But my question is... There is a Rem In connection and supplied cable with bare ends. Do I plug this in and if so where do the bare ends go? Also an SCP connector and cable. Do I connect that and where does it go? Finally there is a switch for Auto Remote that is factory set to ON. Do I leave it like that? Unfortunately the guys at BimmerTech are on holiday with now so any help will be most appreciated.

As an aside...while working on this my tailgate will no longer close. If I press the switch on the upper gate it makes short beep and nothing else.

Apparently everyone was on break for holiday. Glad you got it sorted.

I installed in a 2025 a week ago. I strongly suggest NOT removing the black booster bracket from the car as the Bimmertech video suggests. It was awful getting the screws in and out and I actually had to bend the rear bracket arm. Next time I will just remove the booster harness, remove the booster, make all harness, etc connnections to the Alpha, then slide it onto the backside of the factory bracket. Finally remount the booster.

Im about to attempt this in my ride monday. Ive set aside 2 hours, and I have bimmertech lined up in the morning for any coding they have to do. It says not to use the audio until it gets configured but I have a set of tunes from a previous thread. If I load the tune up am I all set for the night? I assume the coding they have to do is more around adjusting the tones for the car versus tweaking the amp itself. Long story short- after adjusting hardware and installing a profile does it work or is there more software adjustment required?

What they did for me interactively was to adjust the sound spectrum, output levels, and speaker delay. I like a little more sound in front of me versus behind. It took about 45 minutes using various songs that I liked. The only thing I do not like is that I have a faint power humm, as we had to crank up the output levels.

Well, it’s a year 22 thing. I have the HiFi setup with the not so great speakers. It was necessary to get a more robust sound. I’m okay, and you learn to not hear it. Good news is that it is not an ignition noise. That would have driven me crazy.
Overall I’m super happy with the setup and the interactive tuning was really cool. |

There's no way anyone can do a half decent remote tune without a USB mike, that tuning session is just a waste of time and a gimmick, ask me how I know. The Bimmertech Alpha One Amps are rebranded Match DSP Amp. If you are interested, you can download their tunning software HERE and do a proper tune, but you'll need to get a mike. |

OP - you might need to upgrade to Bavsound, focal, or alpha one speakers.
Joe- I have the Dayton mic and plan on doing a more robust dsp tune when I have time. I think this alone can take 1-2 hours. Any tips? |

There's a YouTube channel called RAW-CAT with lots of information on how to tune a car audio system. He has a list called Back to Basics, you may start by checking it out. |

I have really been enjoying the amp upgrade and currently do not feel the need to replace the speakers other than the woofers which just arrived...and which I install as soon as I get time.

I got the amp - gave up on trying to mount it on the bracket like the video suggested. There were 4 bolts and one was unreachable without taking off the side panel. I tried the tunes on the forum and they were a good place to start but ultimately I had bimmertech send me a few options which I wound up customizing. In the end the tune that sounded the best made the underseat woofers more of a mid-bass so I found I needed a sub of some sort to round out the low end. I wound up adding an alpine mono amp and downfiring 12 in sub, and then re-tuning by ear to get the sound more right. Made a platform out of leftover 3/4 plywood and then covered it in felt from a fabric store; mounted both the amp and sub to the plywood and its sitting comfortably in the well for where the spare should go.
One thing I had to do in the tune was to create a slope for the sub because the default is to have it at the same level for all frequencies and it sounded more muddled that way. I know ultimately I’ll need to use my Dayton mic and do a proper white noise tune but that was going to require hours that I just didnt have. For now it sounds probably 75% better which given the effort is a good start. |

Unfortunately it's not that simple...
I have a crazy combination of things: Match UP10DSP / Match UP8 Woofers / Focal IS100L speakers / Audison Sub... I played around a lot with the system settings... input gains, input EQ, signal summing, phase corrections... I am 100% sure that this would not work in your car very well. Might even cause problems. What system do you have? What speakers, etc? If you let us know, then maybe someone with a similar setup can help you. Also, there is another thread, with a bunch of files posted. If you just want to look at a few: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...182351&page=22 |
