2024 LCI - heating/cooling rules

Have been trying to find a similar setting to what my 45e had... turned on seat cooling/heating/steering wheel based on temp. Cant find the equivalent in LCI

inside climate menu in settings those options don't exist and have to do it all manually....any help is appreciated

thanks

iDrive 8 doesn’t have those rules to my knowledge. It does things automatically ( like turning on seat warmer etc if its cold)

Really, the LCI doesn't have those climate rules that you can set at your own preference?

Yeah, I'm surprised that I too can't find this feature in my newly delivered M60i. Can't understand why they'd eliminate it. Not like it requires a physical button or anything!

Apparently not. 85 degrees and had to manually turn on the seat cooling. Hopefully an update in the future

In the past all my new BMW's were an improvement every time. But this LCI really has me wondering...

FWIW, over 40-years ago, a couple of SAABs I owned turned their seat heaters on based on the cabin temperature, regardless of your preferences. I haven't had an opportunity to play with the LCI, but it sounds like they're emulating that. SAAB's position was that a cold driver was a less attentive one, which is why they turned them on automatically.

That sounds awful. I rarely use the seat heating, maybe 5 times a year, and if only for a minute or two until the seats aren't extremely cold anymore. (And winter is cold around here.) Can't stand warm seats under almost any circumstance.

Yes, the rules disappeared. I used them all the time for preconditioning and just because I was lazy. Now I can't even just hit a button, that is gone also.

I won't stop repeating that iDrive 8 is a solution looking for a problem.

I thought I might find the rules under the "Automate Habits" app, but that only has automatic window opening and hiding private information.

I’m not so sure about that, it’s 40° here this morning and my seat cooling is still on.

Same here. I don't mind it but find it weird that the car would just turn it on without asking and you can't change that anywhere?!

The rules you describe, as available in iDrive 7, are no longer in iDrive 8.

In iDrive 8, the seat heating/cooling kicks on automatically with the entire HVAC system.

It also "learns" one's behavior. So say it's 55F degrees outside and the driver/passenger turns on the heated seat, more than likely the next time you start the car and it's 55 (or lower), if that seat is occupied the seat heating will automatically start.

That said, the climate control UI/functionality in iDrive 8.0 is a total abomination and BMW should truly be ashamed of themselves. I'm rather tech savvy being one of the world's oldest millennials, but every time I want to use anything in the climate control, I get frustrated.

And it has NOTHING to do with lack of tactile buttons, but EVERYTHING to do with the rigid rules of needing the fan, and in the right mode, on in order to activate the heated/cooled seats.

I really, really hope 8.5's climate control is better, although it can only go up from rock bottom.

Agree, unrequested seat heat sucks but so do Saabs. YUK. They went out of business in the US.
There are many of us who really do not like heated seats and I am one of them. They make me feel like I have to take a crap and never even used them when I lived in the north.

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.

Unless English is one's second language, and perhaps it's yours, my wording is crystal clear about the climate control being the abomination, and not iDrive 8 as a whole.

Fun fact: the area that received the most attention/change in iDrive 8.5 is...the climate control.

Heh. And just so those of you in the colder climes don't feel like you were singled out, the system is equally bad in warmer conditions. Even when it is well above 100F the automatic system doesn't appear to ever go 100% on cooling. For that matter it takes its own sweet time just to get to anywhere above minimal when starting up.
