Just took delivery, literally sitting at the dealership right now about to meet with the Genius. I'll take more pictures later - I brought the IND front reflectors and they installed for free, and free all weather mats as there's a storm going on locally. Can't recommend this dealership enough!

Only issue is the update is failing now when trying to get weather widget. I'm trying to search on my phone - we tried Jay's video but no go.

Also the genius is on his 3rd month here, 19 year old kid. No clue about iDrive 7. Might abandon ship with everything - he can't figure out the digital key card but I physically have one. Ugh. Haha. So close

Any idea how to set up internet connection? I can't even do nav in the car, keeps failing. Can't update apps, or install apple carplay.

Did they enable remote services on your car? mine connected to everything just fine I didn't touch or set anything up

Don't worry about all computer stuff. I did not do it at the dealer. I knew better - did not wan to waste time there. Spend the next several days doing it at my leisure

Read the manuals and the board advice from people who did it.
Go through steps like any computer set up:

- Make sure ESS is registered by dealer.
- create Log-in into connected drive on the computer - make sure the car is there and all the services enabled
- Load the app on your phone, log in
- go to car and make sure it is in a good cell reception area, not garage 3 stories below and check all the boxes in the menu: Data protection, GPS location, Wireless, remote start enabled
- Pair your phone
- Create your profile in Idrive, from there log in into connected drive
- ON apps menu right click and update apps
- reboot I drive
- need to let the car talk back to server over cell reception , so let it seat for 30 min... try again if it did not take
- check your 3d view on the phone
- try remote start: send departure time, then climatize

So what I've done:

- I finally updated apps to be successful
- found and enabled services for connected drive under car settings
- restarted iDrive
- bmw app on my phone detected the car on its own. I can honk the horn, see it's location, etc.

- GPS/ nav now works
- updated traffic now works

- weather widget NOT working
- 3D View NOT working. I have it enabled on the car with both keys, still not working
- No Apple CarPlay option
- Digital credit card NOT working

Edit:

I just noticed I don't have the option for auto start on my phone
