Driving Assistance Professional Package

Hello,

I have the driving assistance professional package for my X5. How does the “automatic lane change” work? I thought the car would change lane automatically if you simply use the turn signal??

When I use the turn signal the automatic steering gets deactivated and the car does not change lane. What am I missing?

Thanks!

you need to hold the turn signal for 1-2 s then it will show an arrow vis the HUD or cluster indicating it's going to make the change. This ONLY works on highways

please

You should hold the turn signal up to resistance point (where it triggers triple signal) not all the way.

Do I hold the turn signal for 1 to 2 seconds before it ‘clicks’?
How does it know it’s on highways? Does it have to travel above certain speed?
Thanks.

Hold it there but don't let it click. Once it activates, you'll see a green arrow in the instrument cluster showing you going into the next lane. Once that arrow shows up, let go of the signal stalk and the car will execute the lane change while keeping the blinker on throughout the whole process.

Pretty sure you don't have to be on a highway. I've used the lane change many times at all kinds of speeds. As long as it's seeing both lines on the road (if the lines to either side of the car on the instrument cluster are green), it should work.

That is correct. As long as there are at least two lanes in the direction you are going you can use it. Before I got my X5 I was thinking that the lane change was something I would not use much but I use it every chance I get and it works well.
